Why are pure breed wild big cats or small wildcats more popular than pure breed wild canine pets?

Like you hear about bob cats,leopard cats, leopards,lions,tigers and other wild cats as pets but not wolfs,coyotes,foxes,and jackals but wolf dog hybrids are more common. Are there people that have pure gray wolf pets? I fantasized about owning a red fox as a pet.But why are the wild cats more popular and famous?
