Canine Influenza, New Epidemic.?

Does anyone else have a dog who's near death due to a respiratory infection? Runny nose, phlegm, nonstop whooping type cough,lethargy, loss of appetite,blank stare, head shaking, loss of balance. Is this a new epidemic? My dogs are very ill and its breaking my heart to see this, the vets just prescribed antibiotics,but this looks like a virus.
